Welcoming the celebration of the Chinese New Year on January 22 and marking the "Year of the Water Rabbit." Chinese New Year is a special time awaited by the Chinese community and the most important calendar event of the year.

The word "Imlek" is taken from the Hokkien language and is only known and used by Indonesians. The celebrations are better known as Chinese New Year to Western people, while the Chinese call it "Guo Nian" or "Xin Jia" which means skip the month or new moon.

Chinese New Year has existed for over 4,000 years, and as time passed, several traditions were formed and passed down through generations and celebrated every Chinese New Year. Some such traditions include preparing unique Chinese New Year dishes, visiting relatives, distributing angpao, and watching lion dance performances. Some choose to travel and take a break from their daily routine by taking a vacation with their family, especially this year, as the celebration of Chinese New Year fell on the weekend.
